FACS classes are off to a blazing start this semester.  Mrs. Bergin’s students are learning, creating, and experimenting with foods.  The Intro to FACS class just started a cooking unit. They are learning about kitchen safety as well as food borne illnesses. They have made pretzels and Orange Julius so far this semester. Nutrition & Wellness students are discussing different food regions in the United States as well as foods from other cultures.  They have also done experiments to test the differences between canned, mix, and from scratch biscuits.


Cooking and the learning of foods isn’t all that happens in the FACS classes. In Interior Design they are exploring different careers in the field of housing.  They are planning to do some remodeling of the kitchens in the FACS room later this semester. Consumer Education students are working on becoming smart shoppers.  They have discussed needs vs. wants, priorities, and how companies "hook" you on their products.
