KINDERGARTEN BY THE NUMBERS

May 21, 2017

The 2016-17 Kindergarten class was made up of 2/3 girls and 1/3 boys! With that many girls come some interesting figures! We used 2 bottles of hand lotion because "it smells good”! We fixed hair at least 5 times a week so that is about 200 “hair appointments”! And we went through 5 boxes of Frozen Band-Aids! Here are some other numbers that tell a little about our year! 100% of our students can write their first and last name and read some sight words! Over half the class can write their numbers to 100 while everyone can write their numbers to 30! As a class, these students read over 950 books at home, and in class we read at least 3 books every day so that is approximately 500 more books for a grand total of 1450 books! Many of those were reread by students during quiet reading time and center time so this is a very low estimate. We also wrote 12 class books! While working in the computer lab, the students earned 96 medals. Throughout the year we celebrated 24 birthdays, 12 lost teeth, 7 special holidays, and 1 new pair of glasses. But the best number to report is that we received almost a million hugs! This class brought their own special mix of enthusiasm and energy and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for each one!
