Here you'll find the final Title I Parent Newsletter of the year, with articles about reflecting on the school year and celebrating your child's successes, how to approach discipline in a new way, tips for helping your child navigate the online world, and ideas for engaging with science in nature this summer! I've included an Activity Calendar I hope you and your family can take advantage of as well.
In addition here are some summer resources to utilize with your child! I hope you can take a few minutes to read through the handouts, hang a few on the fridge to reference, and talk with your child about what simple reading and learning activities they’d like to try this summer. Orange links are documents to download, and blue are direct links to websites:

- An End of School Year Interview page you can use to document your child’s growth!
- Book It! Parent Reading Challenge & Child Reading Challenge Checklists- the best way to get your kids to read is to model it yourself! Challenge each other to complete ____ items this summer (12 is just over half of the list!)
- Camp BOOK IT! Signup instructions- turn reading into Personal Pan Pizzas at Pizza Hut!
- BOOK IT! Reading is Yummy! Reading Logs: Sign up for the BOOK IT! Program, keep track of your reading each month (log it online to earn pizza), and turn in logs (even if it’s not filled completely) to Mrs. Miller in the fall for a prize!
- Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Journal- read just 8 books, fill out the log, and pick out a book to keep at the end of the summer!
- Start With A Book weekly theme idea starters to keep the learning going all summer! Find more ideas at startwithabook.org.
- A handout for parents titled 4 Activities to Keep Kids Reading All Summer Long
These are optional activities, but highly encouraged! Pick just a few of these activities that fit your family and interest your child. Even short amounts of time spent together reading or doing educational activities can make a big difference and get your child off to a great start for next school year!

Looking for yet another way to enjoy books together this summer? Watch and listen to books being read aloud by authors, celebrities, and regular ‘ol book lovers like you by going to YouTube and searching for the following channels: Brightly Storytime, StoryTimeWithMsBecky, KidTimeStoryTime, and StorylineOnline.
