ABOUT THE EMIL KYM ART GALLERY
The Emil Kym Memorial Art
Gallery was established in 1993 for several
purposes:
*To improve the exhibit facilities for Goessel
High School and USD 411 students;
*To give local artists, professional or amateur,
an opportunity to exhibit;
*To bring in special exhibits of artwork, such
as other high schools, colleges, Kansas artists, as well as work
from national or international artists.
Such a facility brings educational and cultural opportunities notnormally experienced in a small, rural high school and community .Instead of the students always going to the museum, we bring the museum to the students. Said to be the only art gallery of its kind in Kansas high schools which brings in outside professional artists and photographers.
When the gallery was established in 1993, the school gratefully received a donation from the Emil Kym family to improve the facilities. A grand opening was held with Steve Friesen, M.A., as speaker, who is the leading researcher and authority on Emil Kym.
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., same as school hours. Please check in at the office as you enter the building so they know you are in the building. Hours in the evening include times for concerts, plays, and other programs in the auditorium.
