So Much Art in Art!

What an amazing semester! There is so much that happened in the art room this year. Let me start off by sharing about our field trips.

All art and yearbook students spent the afternoon at the Wichita Art Museum where we focused on the Daguerreotype photography, which is one of the oldest forms of photography where the images are captured on metal sheets and framed in air tight glass frames. See the pictures from this field trip!

Art I-III classes went on a surprise field trip to a local artist's house here in town. Levina Schroeder welcomed us into her studio where she showed the kids her artwork, talked about the process, and even allowed students to create a piece of their own! Lavina specializes in china plate painting, a very delicate technique.

Art contest was in Peabody this year. Goessel's students did very well and brought home some ribbons!
In their categories, Aaron Woelk, Dane Kruger, Johanna Hastings, and Winter Razor all took first place. Benedikt Heyl and Elna Wesener both took second, and Connie Stevens and Rachel Lyons took third. A very successful event!
Students were allowed to do a free choice project for contest. This allowed students to explore other media they were interested in such as mosaics, fabric batik, ceramics, jewlery making, paper mache, photography, painting, stop animation videos and more!

The dark room is all put together and the Photo Imaging class learned how a camera obscura works, then they made pin hole cameras! Students developed pictures in the dark room during 4th quarter. At the end of the semester, students played with the camera settings to make ghostly images and do some light painting!

Below are links to online portfolios of each of my graphic design students. Their final project was web design. It is a collection of all their work from the 2014-2015 school year!

Check out the videos Dane Kruger and Aaron Woelk made!

It was a very exciting year, I'm already planning for and getting excited about next year! Please encourage your child to step out of their comfort zones and try an art class!
