8th Grade Math

What is the difference between 8th grade math and 8th grade accelerated math?  Both classes are covering the same concepts, but the pacing of each class will be different.  For those students who learn at a slower pace, 8th grade math will go at a slower progression.  For students who pick concepts up quickly, 8th grade accelerated math will allow them to learn everything taught in 8th grade math plus some extra skills and concepts with the possibility of an introduction to algebra one.  When it comes to state assessments, all 8th graders take the same test, whether they take 8th grade math or 8th grade accelerated math.  Except in special cases, all 8th graders will take algebra one as freshmen.
