KMEA Students Advance To State Level!

January 12, 2012

There are 256 singers in the All State Choir taken from all sizes of schools from across the state; we were lucky enough to have four students make it in this year - Jeff Hall, Josh Booth, Drake Sterk and Tyler Shultz.  Congratulations to each of them; they will represent Goessel High School very well.

The All State Orchestra, unlike the All-State Bands, which are divided between 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a, and 6a school sizes, also takes the best from all school sizes across the state for the woodwind players. In order to make this top elite group, Reece Hiebert, Braden Unruh, and Grant Flaming scored higher than all other 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a, and 6a students in the all state bands.  Grant Flaming is sitting 6th chair trumpet and he will be playing with Braden Unruh. Braden Unruh is sitting 2nd chair trumpet this year. This is Braden’s 3rd year participating in an All State group. Students receive a special medallion for being a 3 year member; this is a very rare accomplishment. Reece will be sitting 1st chair Bass Clarinet in the Orchestra; this means he received the highest score out of all Bass Clarinets in the state of Kansas.

Congratulations to all of these students!
