PICK OF THE WEEK

For the week of February 6, 2012

Zoozical
By Judy Sierra

Reading Level: 2nd – 4th Grades

Judy Sierra defines a zoozical as “a song-and-dance extravaganza performed by the denizens of a zoo”, and that is exactly what is in this book.

In the middle of winter, the zoo is a terribly quiet and boring place for the animals.  However, when a small hippo jumps out of the way of a collapsing big hippo, a young kangaroo joins the jumping.  Soon the beat has spread throughout the zoo, and the animals decide to put on a zoozical.

Every animal has talents.  Singing, dancing, playing instruments, and making costumes, posters, and scenery are on display, and soon the auditorium is full of people waiting for the show.

Don’t tell me the animals have stage fright!
