Better Than Yesterday: Continue IT

“Better Than Yesterday: Continue IT” is the theme for this year’s Bluebird football team, as they look to build on the success of last year’s team. So far, the Bluebirds are 3-1, and 2-0 in district play. Even though last year graduated a strong senior class, the team has filled the open positions well, and they look to bring last year’s strong expectations into this year as well.
The Bluebird’s opener was at home, versus Centre, and it ended in a disappointing loss, 24-36. The next week, however, was a different story, as the team took down White City 54-6, forcing the game to end because of the 45 point mercy rule. The Bluebirds kept rolling, and won handily the next week as well, this time against Fairfield. The game ended at half, once again due to the 45 point rule. The scoring was very balanced this game, Fairfield scoring 6 each quarter, and the Bluebirds earning 30 per quarter, leading to an ending score of 60-12, Bluebirds. This was also the team’s first district game. Next Friday, the Bluebirds had another district game, this time against the Claflin Wildcats. The team and their fans traveled to Claflin, unsure as to whether they’d be stuck in a downpour the entire game, but as it turned out, there was nothing to fear. Without the distraction of weather, the Bluebirds could focus their whole attention on the game, and it was needed. Defense was a key in this low scoring game, which turned out 12-6, Bluebirds, giving the team a 2-0 record in district play.
This Friday, the Bluebirds have a home game against Stafford, which is also a district game. Come out and support the Bluebird team as they look to continue their winning streak in both regular and district play.
