LaRue for Mayor
By Mark Teague
Reading Level: 2nd – 4th grade
Hugo Bugwort is running for mayor, and his first order of business if elected is to take care of Snort City’s dog problem. Of course, this doesn’t sit well with the dogs, especially Ike LaRue. While Ike’s owner is laid up in the hospital (from an accident that may or may not have been caused by Ike), Ike and his new dog friends set out to stop Bugwort from becoming mayor.
Like the other books in the Ike LaRue series, this story is told through newspaper articles and letters from Ike to his owner. Also, this book continues the trend of showing Ike’s thoughts compared to what Ike is really doing. Those who enjoy the first two Ike books will enjoy this one as well.
